*The following programs and services are provided through generous donations to the
Children's Cancer Fund; therefore, the ability to provide or enhance these services is subject
to funding availability.
Family Resource Bag
Family resource tote bags are available to all newly diagnosed patients and their
families. Filled with educational information and materials regarding diagnosis and
treatment, these totes also include age appropriate comfort items, such as
blankets, stuffed animals or other toys.
Family Assistance Program
The Family Assistance Program provides limited financial assistance, such as
transportation, lodging or food aids, to JMH families suffering serious monetary
hardships due to illness.
Arts in Medicine
Creative Expression for Children With Cancer and Other Life Threatening Illnesses
Local artists and volunteers donate their time to providing our patients with
creative endeavors, while promoting an environment of self-expression. The art
program boosts patient confidence, while fostering a sense of pride and
accomplishment.
Family Strength & Unity
The Family Strength Unity program provides opportunities for families to create
and grow strong bonds during a time of adversity. The program is dedicated to
hosting fun-filled, family-friendly events, holiday celebrations, patient day camps
and educational classes, aimed at helping patients successfully find hope and
courage within themselves and each other.
Educational Tutoring and Literacy Development
Our tutoring service is provided to patients in need of academic assistance. The
Literacy Development service offers age-appropriate books for patients to select
and keep.
Coping Kits and Baby Smiles Boxes
Coping Kits contain activities and toys that can brighten stressful days or
uncomfortable procedures. Baby Smiles Boxes provide infant-safe stimulation toys
for little ones.
Box Lunch
Graciously sponsored by Guardian Angels, the Box Lunch program provides 15
nutritious box lunches daily to patients who spend especially long hours at the
clinic.
Oncology Teen Groups
The Oncology Teen Group is our peer support group, which provides day-long
adventures to teens overcoming similar struggles. A trip to Biscayne National Park
was one recent group venture.
Prize Box
Small, but meaningful gifts chosen by the patients from the prize box somehow
make the needles more bearable. Larger gifts are provided for patient birthdays
and graduations.
